Keyword strategies to improve views

I just like words. On my eighth birthday, I received a hardcover dictionary. I sat down that day and methodically went through the tome to circle the terms I’d already been introduced to (yeah, I’m a self-proclaimed nerd). And then I would turn to a page and there were dozens more I’d never even heard of. Oh, happy day! I still have that Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary (red hardcover, well loved. Not for sale.) And today? No Google Play can download a better word game than... continue reading

Keywords make the best Word Game

Thank YouFor someone very new to the nuts and bolts of photography I have found the Dreamstime community both welcoming and inspirational. I sense the joy that each contributor has in sharing revelations, their Perfect Shot, and their joy in the process. Thank you for sharing. While I would love to sell a lot of photos, I find that by watching the number of views the photos get, I can enjoy myself, too. I figure that by focusing on getting the images seen more, the sales will be more likely... continue reading

Thinking like a Stock Photographer : Thoughts from the Edge

I've been thinking about my content and photo projects a lot recently. I'm usually pretty busy... I have a full time day job, a girlfriend, I shoot bands, and like everyone else, I'm swamped with a million little things. This is NOT a complaint. It just means I have to really work hard to make the effort for all the stock photo stuff in my life. You have to really want to do stock photography. It's rarely glamourous. It's often tedious. There's keywording, editing, time in lightroom, time spent... continue reading

Reminder. Good titles and keywording makes the most work

Hello Dreamstimers,Just for the beginners here that have the question how to make more sales. There are different factors that influence your sales. One of the most important is keywords and titles.I learned in the past that titles and keywording are extremely important and if not the MOST important activity while submitting images or videos. I started myself with not paying much attention to this but i learned taking care of your titles and keywords will pay off. Submitting an image with... continue reading

A tip on getting more exposure for beginners

I'm a new comer to this world. I started a year ago just curious to see if some people would like my pictures. As everybody, I didn't know which platform to choose. I tried 2 to see if they accepted my work. Both did.I devoted until now to the other platform to reach an objective of 500 images uploaded. Now I'm doing the same with Dreamstime.I have only sold 2 times in DS (I have over 80 sells in the other platform). The same image sold twice. This is a picture of a New year's eve... continue reading

Freshening up your online files

I was editing one of my online files the other day because I'd thought of a better way to describe the photograph. I then went back and had a look at the first few photos I'd submitted and opened edit for each one.All of them had something that I then changed, either in the description and or adding keywords. I suppose it's normal for some people when they start out and maybe don't quite know the right keywords to use and the descriptions.I have to confess, I'm over six months... continue reading

Keywords

I recently used keywords for the first time and it was enlightening for the novice I am and needless to say I have several images that could have been categorized better in the past!! I would recommend anyone like myself to give it a go just to see the difference. I have often struggled with which categories are best so it's very helpful. As I have recently passed the 700 uploads mark i will add a recent image.  continue reading

Categories & Keywords: Sometimes It's Best to Think Inside the Box P2

PART 2: THE SOLUTION FOR DOING SEO FOR IMAGES “I’m going to give you less than 30 seconds to draw a picture of a tree. Go.”Running a sketch meetup group, I prompted a café full of extremely creative artists with this, and do you know what happened? I got the same stuff back from each person: a lollipop broccoli tree. That was when I informed them how they could have drawn an evergreen tree, a bonsai, a branch, leaf, fruit, or seed, the roots at the bottom, a squirrel or owl in... continue reading

Categories & Keywords: Sometimes It's Best to Think Inside the Box

PART 1: THE PROBLEM WITH SEO FOR IMAGES  “What’s in the box?”This question is asked by Brad Pitt’s character, Detective David Mills, in the 1995 neo-noir crime thriller movie, Se7en. As viewers, we never get to see the answer, what was actually in the box. Although the criminal, John Doe (Kevin Spacey), tells us, it’s Mills’ wife’s head, he could have been lying. There are other clues to help us guess: the movie genre and rating, the pattern of deaths having to do with... continue reading
