Billions of people use computers worldwide, from desktops to smartphones, and all these devices allow customization of screen backgrounds with images from external sources. Any JPG can be set as wallpaper so stock becomes a great resource for those looking for anything out-of-the-ordinary. Let's give them some extraordinary wallpapers.
Wallpapers represent a well covered category online and there are thousands of resources out there. This means that your submissions must be carefully thought and must excel in terms of creativity and technical execution. They need to be simple yet outstanding as we're looking for unique compositions with strong visual impact. We recommend you focus on concepts fit for wallpaper usage: futuristic artwork, water scenes, nature, spiritual, fantasy landscapes, love may be just a few of the popular themes but this list is by no means exhaustive. Once you've selected your theme, don't forget that the wallpaper is always that image against which desktop menus and icons are displayed so make sure you do not overcrowd it in terms of elements, shapes or colors but rather integrate all these in a harmonious bigger picture. Also, there are numerous mobile communications devices and just as many screen resolutions so you need to keep that in mind when designing them. Illustrations are easiest to upload to such devices so we're addressing mainly illustrators this time. Simple pattern, tiling and render backgrounds are not good for this assignment. Remember that we want something out-of-the-ordinary, as we want for any assignment for that matter.
Most extraordinary wallpapers will be rewarded with $300 for the first place, $200 for the second place and $100 for the third place. The winners will also get our Dreamstime branded t-shirts to look extraordinary on all occasions. Good luck!

It's a very good idea, but the title is kind of misleading. Is this an illustrations-only assignment?
Edit : Ok, I read it once again, so I answered my question, it is mainly illustrations that will be accepted. |

Few questions :
1. The smartphone market is mostly of vertical screens where in tablets, laptops and PCs are horizontal. Are we looking for landscape or portrait wallpapers?
2. Considering the resolution for smartphones will the images be downsampled later? |

You can upload the vector file after image is approved. |

You must first upload the file like a regular one and after choose the file from assignment page. |

I understand that it is possible to propose an image which is already in my online files. Is it right ? If yes, where do I refer to the file ID, in order to avoid file duplication in case of approve ?

You must upload the file again. After approval you will have two images in your portfolio with different IDs. Just disable the old one. I'm not sure but it is possible DT dudes will disable old one automatically. Good luck. |

We do not disable the old submissions from our end so you will have to do yourselves :). |

I uploaded a submission into the latest assignment on the 13th of July.....two days prior to the closing date for the competition.
I uploaded the image correctly.
The strange thing is that my image still hasn't been inspected, and yet the competition is now closed, and voting has begun.
Are there others who have experienced the same situation? |
