My new camera (Canon T3i) has the option of selecting the desired image aspect ratio (3:2, 4:3, 16:9, 1:1) I never used the wide option (16:9) Any advise on this topic? Do you frequently use this wide format? Why? Why not in case you don't?
I don't have the T3i, but I'm looking at the manual. From what it looks, you might be better off using the largest format ratio, 3:2. If you want to crop the photo later to, 4:3, 16:9, or 1:1, this could be done in post process. I think if you set the camera to other than the 3:2 ration, the camera will crop it for you. Check out p. 129 of the T3i manual. Also, if you shoot in RAW (which I highly recommend for Stock Photos), the format is always saved with the 3:2. Hope this helps.
