My guess would be as long as you don't check the exclusive upload box, you should be fine.

This is pretty cool. I've already got a few of my Hillary Clinton shots sold. The way things are going, maybe I should have gone to the Obama rally instead.

(I appologize to the reviewers for submitting way too many - I was just doing what had been typical for my other editorial sites - I toned it down for the Bill and Edwards images).

You might be surprised at how easy it is to get your own press pass. If you start a blog through any of the free blogging site and write just a little bit about events in your own city, you can qualify for a press pass. Bloggers are often considered journalists, and many cities recognize all journalists as "press." It helps if you write to your local newspapers and ask for press kits then fill them out, just to let them know you're there. It's worth a try.

Mensaje Cotizado: What are the risks of either Dreamstime or the Photographer or both be in trouble if the buyer misuses one of our Editorial Photographies ?

If you have been involved in microstock only then there is a general misconception that the photographer can get into trouble if one of their images is used without a model release. What most people don't realise is that it is the responsibility of the publisher to ensure they use images in a proper and legal way.

As long as you the photographer do not imply there is a model release when in fact there isn't one and you are not the publisher, you really have nothing to worry about.

In other words, the buyers are the ones responsible to make sure they use images correctly.

Obviously if a release can be acquired then it is much more convenient for the photographer to get it since they are in the best position to get one signed. And if a release is available it makes images more saleable. But the responsibility lies squarely with the publisher to make sure they are using images legally.

Offering images for sale on a stock site doesn't constitute publication so DT are OK too.

Quick question: Should I reduce noise and unsharp editorial photos or is that considered "manipulation"?
I've some carnival images that were shot at night and they're quite grainy... not sure if I should leave them as they are...

Manipulation refers mainly to the use of brushes (clone, stamp, healing, etc). Reduce noise and unsharp are considered as "standard" tools for processing, so you can use them on your images.

If you upload images from a recent event, please send an email to support (event description and also include the image IDs in the email body), as there are many images in the pending line and they can be easily overlooked.
If your images are not related to very recent events, please be patient, they will certainly be reviewed with a higher priority than the "normal" submissions.

Thank you for your reply. I'm not really sure, which ones I have :) They are not really unique, but still they are about current events. From Sunday - is about Chinese New Year in London, today - is dense fog in London. I don't really know, should I write to support in this case?

I have read all the posts in this thread carefully, but I still have a big question.

I want to make sure I understand the policy now, so I don't waste reviewers' time if my images are not acceptable.

I have quite a few shots of athletes at triathlons, marathons, etc.: swimmers coming out of the water, runners crossing the finish line. . .

In most cases, the athlete is the sole focus on the photo. These are more candid action shots of athletes than anything else (for example, the athlete usually occupies 75% of the frame).

I took these shots on my own, and don't have model releases for anyone--in fact, I don't know anyone's name.

When a person is the focus of a photo, but the photo illustrates a public event, is the shot acceptable for editorial use?

By the way, if it's relevant, the shots usually do include a logo, as most athletic gear seems to be emblazoned with a brand name these days.

Some athletes are well-known and we are looking for that kind of images, especially during a competition. But if you went to a marathon and took 200 photographs with different participants, their names are VERY important to be entered in the image description, otherwise they will be rejected as too many "identical" shots from the same series.

If the person (not a VIP) is the focus of a photo, the composition should place that person very clearly in the action of the event. Portraits with people from Rwanda (not wearing traditional costumes) where the person occupies 80% (main subject) of the image will be refused.
There are also some exceptions... Tribe members, dancers, wearing costumes and dancing at a celebration are acceptable if the image is part of a series, that icludes also other images to illustrate the whole event.

A very important thing, everyone should know is that when you upload sport-event photographs (and not only), it's very important to write in the image description as much information as possible (event name, location, participant name, winner, 2nd place, year, etc).
Some photographers uploaded very good images and their description was something like: "swimmers at the start line in a competition" (note that this example is just for illustrative purpose :) . Even if you don't remember clearly the event, please check the competition numbers, banners visible in the image or ask someone about that event, and WRITE more information in the image caption.
